Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I knew this was a possiblity when we sent the girls to school but oh my this is so hard. I feel like a horrible mom.

It seems like every week about Monday and Tuesday, sometimes in Wed. Maddie says she has a belly ache right before she needs to leave. We almost missed the bus this morning. She was actually so upset that she almost missed it. I was just going to drive her but she wanted to catch the bus. Luckily the bus driver was checking seat belts so we made it.

I don't want her to think I don't care but I can't tell if she really doesn't feel well or if she is just nervous. I don't know how to help her get over it. She is so excited once she gets home but getting there is a chore. She says the day is too long but she has also made friends and talks about school all night and on the weekends. She seems to like it but also says it's boring. I just don't know what to do. I can't give into her all the time but I also need to know if she is really not feeling well or if she is just nervous.

I'm wondering if I should take her to the dr. She has complaned before that her belly hurts after she eats but then will say she just ate too much. Sometimes she will complain after every meal and then other times she doesn't say anything. I realize I'm rambling right now but I just don't know what to do for her. Maybe I will pick her up today and try and walk down to see her teacher. They are funny about picking kids up from school. I guess the other thing would be to write a note in. This is all so new to me.

On the plus side, today is Meike's first official day of pre-k and the girl just walks up to the bus and sits down. She is so excited to go. We almost missed her bus because it came almost 10 min. early. She gets picked up at the door so I know the bus driver would have honked. I guess we will have to make sure we are ready sooner. Meike went last Thursday for a trial run with 5 other classmates. She loved it. Of course her cousin is in her class so she is so excited about seeing Mark everyday.
