And if I get within 10 feet of one my eyes start to itch and get red and puffy, my nose runs and I get congested, and then I start to have trouble breathing (almost like an asthma effect). I usually have to take Benadryl and get an OTC inhaler if I am to be around a cat for an extended period. So, It could very well be the cat or you could just be getting what your daughter has.
