Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Anyone taking High Blood Pressure meds?

Morning all, I have a question for anyone taking high blood pressure meds. Four weeks ago I was put on blood pressure meds..the first one was atenolol, which lowered my pulse rate to the 50's but kept my blood pressure in the 180's. My Dr. changed it to a ace inhibitor/diuretic combo....now my blood pressure averages 105/65 and my pulse in the low 90's which is all good. My question is the way the pills make you feel......... I have been weak and shaky and have had weird stomach pains with increased gas pains, the Dr. doesn't beleive this is a result in the lowering of my blood pressure. But with my delicate stomach does anyone beleive it is possible for this medication to cause gas pains (it's not listed as a side effect). The pains seemed to appear after the second dose of the medicine was ingested. Anyone elses experiance with blood pressure meds would be appreciated.... I hate taking pills and am not sure what effects they can cause on your system.

I also have a prescription for sulfa antibiotics here that I haven't started yet, I wanted to let the blood pressure medication get settled first. I am very afraid of medications, don't know if I iwll be able to take the antibiotics. I'm a big ol baby
