Actually, she is a Nurse Practioner. When I went in for my physical in May and we discussed the fact that the bathroom had been my best friend, she suggested that it was IBS (which I suspected from my own research). Then when she came back with my allergy script, she said one of the other doctors had suggested this site and Heather's books. Not bad for little old Vt, hey? I'm sure they must have been put on to it by another patient or maybe one of the GI docs in the area - it's a large network affiliated with a teaching hospital, so who knows how the word spreads.
