Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I saw the IBS cookbook at Barnes & Noble & read part of it & was wondering if that is my problem. I have the burning pains described in the book & they are definately related to bowel movements however they are not in my abdomen. They start as a nagging ache under my left shoulderblade & then start burning like a hot poker & move across my back toward the right. After the bowel movement the pain & burning goes away. I was sent to a gastroenteroligist (sp?) & was tested & told I have acid reflux & a hiatal hernia. The pain from the hernia when I eat the wrong food is in the same place but does not burn & does not herald a bowel movement. I have had a problem with constipation for as long as I can remember. The doctor put me on Zelnorm which helped with the constipation but not the pains & I discovered from seeing the commercials on TV that it is an IBS medication but the doctor has not mentioned IBS (maybe because I have no adominal pains). Has anyone every heard of something like this before? In '99 I was diagonosed with Lynphoma (in remission by summer of 2000)and had a Bone Marrow Transplant in Nov 2000 (hopefully to keep the Lynphoma from returning). During the first year after the transplant was when I started having this pain under my shoulderblade & it gradually got bad enought for my oncologist to send me to the stomach doctor. :confused:
