I had c-diff a few years ago. However, I had IBS before I had c-diff but my IBS definitly got worse. I became lactose intollerant, can not eat lettuce & corn on the cob
either without it really upsetting my IBS.

I belonged to a c-diff support group and I have heard of other people getting IBS after having c-diff.

What did you get the c-diff from? I got mine from antibiotics. Lots of them! I started out with Lyme Disease and was put on ammoxacyllin for 30 days. Then got bronchitis and was put on the amox again for 2 weeks. That didn't work so then was put on Biaxin for 10 days which is what I think finally did me in. It was the worse couple months of my life! I lost 10lbs and only weighed 90lbs to begin with. They tried Flagyl first. It worked until I stopped it and then it came back so they then put me on Vancomycin and that got rid of it.

I can also tell you that they say you CAN NOT take antibiotics again unless it's life threatening because you can become suseptible to the c-diff very easily. I am a wreck every time I get sick hoping that I don't need an antibiotic. I haven't needed one since (knock on wood) but I dread the day!

I don't know if anyone has ever explained to you what happens but when you take any antibiotic it kills the "good bacteria in your body". We all have c-diff in our body, however, when the good bacteria is killed the c-diff can take over. In a normal situation when someone has to take an antibiotic they take it and sometime get D from it and recover. When you take large amounts of them though the c-diff takes completely over and that's what makes you sick. I have yet to find out though from any dr if you can "build" the good bacteria back up again so that IF you ever needed to take an antibiotic you'd be ok. It's a risk I guess you take. A risk I never want to have to take either

I took Acidophilus for a few months. You might want to look into that. Also ate a lot of yogurt. (However, doing that then caused me to get a kidney stone which is another story!)I had a very bad year that year
Hang in there. It does take a while to feel better.
