Regarding new doctors: I have a computer based typed list of allergies, current medications & reason for use, medical history - dates & issues or diagnoses, dated surgical history. I keep it in my pocket calendar, you never know when you could end up in an ER or in another city. When I'm not feeling well, I can't remember all that stuff very well. AND doctors love it. It's easy to update this list whenever something is added or meds change.
Also, as far as a comment about communication with doctors... Go to an appointment armed with a list of things you want to talk about. You can give the doc a copy, too. If I don't do this we get off track & I leave forgetting half the things I wanted to talk about. And, I forget to ask for new prescriptions, etc.
Let's face it, some doctors are intimidating, if you go in prepared he or she will be impressed and you'll get what you need..win,win !
I had a doctor years ago, and he was always in such a hurry, I positioned myself between him and the door. That way I could say "not so fast" while I blocked his exit. We'd laugh, and he got the hint.
