my surgery's about two months away, but having all that time ahead of me (and wanting to be able to *do* something rather than just wait around), i'm trying to get my body in the best condition possible for healing & recovery. focusing extra hard on eating healthily (fruits & veggies, plenty of protein, iron) and getting enough exercise. i'm still figuring out the specifics regarding my pegs - i need to ask the dr. if i *shouldn't* do pushups, or should, how much stretching, etc. but i was wondering if anyone has general advice for surgery - any kinds of pre- or post-op practices that you've found helpful to healing, ways to prepare your body for the major assault, ways to help it mend itself afterwards. also if anyone knows any books about this sort of thing - i browsed in b&n this weekend and didn't see anything, but it seems like the sort of thing that ought to exist, no?
