I work in the finance industry and the commodities traders are bullish on oil because of the Iran standoff as well as troubles in Nigeria. In addition all fuel is to be mixed with ethanol now which requires a conversion. That means less gas while everyone converts. Also you have refineries from Katrina that won't go back online until June. ALso Americans are to blame as well. Most of us drive our gas guzzler SUVs (inlcuding myself) and expect oil and gas to remain the same. Demand has not waned even with high gas prices. Add all that up and you have record HIGH gas prices! Give this time though, it WILL affect the economy in a negative way.
