I've been going through the peri-menopausal stage now for several years and I've had IBS for about 4 years, so mine does kind of coincide, but I don't know if it's definitely related of course.
Menopause does exacerbate many conditions, so frankly, I don't see why it's not possible that it might trigger attacks. Hormones are so potent and effect multiple functions of our bodies, so I think it might be possible.
Plus, I'm learning that the menopausal experience is not the same for every female. We can't really say, because of our own experience, that something may or may not be true of someone else. Of course, since I'm in the heavy grip of the menopause monster, it's no wonder I might think that anything is possible. Terri
