Hey Ruch,
The first visit should be just an interview...you'll probably fill out alot of written tests/surveys, and the doctor will ask you a bunch of questions and then maybe give his opinion on the results...i didn't get any presecriptions until my second visit, because my pdoc wanted me to go home and think on everything, and see if i agreed with his opinion. Good idea, btw, i would highly recommend going home after your first visit and researching everything, including the drugs (and possible side effects) that your doc may be wanting to prescribe, before he actually fills you out a prescription. That way you have an active role in your treatment, and you know what to expect!
At my first visit, I was super nervous and tense at having someone "pick" my brain so to speak...but my psychiatrist was very calming and relaxing, and actually funny! And not in a weird doctor humor kind of way either...so i knew i had a good psychiatrist...and when i get all tongue tied and have a hard time explaining what is going on with me (which is often!) he has a good way of calming me down, and getting some useful info out! Haha...I hope you find someone that you mesh well with, and remember if you don't feel comfortable, shop around! good luck...
