We've been married for eight years and have lived in four different states (six different apartments/houses). Like you I am ready to settle down, but that's probably not in the cards. I hate having to find a new job every time and only work there for a couple of years and I've been trying to finish school. Fortunately for us, our dog is small so we don't have that much problem finding an apartment. I've lived in some apartment complexes that allow big dogs, you just have to live on the 1st floor. Even after all of our moves, I tend to be excited at first but then I feel overwhelmed and somewhat depressed. Moving to San Antonio was pretty tough for me, since we moved from a smaller city. The traffic and crime really had me depressed--I couldn't get a good night sleep for weeks. But, now that I am acclimated, got a great job, and am going to school I actually like it here. You just have to go in with a positive attitude and be open to enjoying your new community. Wish I had some ideas on your dog. At least you know that she'll be well cared for and you can visit.
