So, I sent him a bunch of links to clinical web sites about IBS. He hasn't made a peep since. It would have been too odd to discuss it with him (he's very squeamish and using even medical terminology would have been laughable), but what he read must have been enough for him to understand that I definitely wasn't "faking" something.
