-just got back from shopping and came across a drink called "mate." It's indigenous to Argentina, and the surrounding countries. And, did a quick web search...
Turns out that mate or "yerba mate" has the "positive" effects of caffeine (as a stimulant), yet little negative effect on the digestive tract. As a matter of fact it is thought to aid "elimination" both intestinal and urinary.
Geez, it's only one bus ride away from an Argentinian market near where I lived a few years ago. A real charming cafe, there too. Looks like I'll be paying the place a visit, soon. -hope I don't run into any of my old roomates waiting for the bus, though!
