So I understand the family, I guess I am fortunate in that I don't have any "steps" to deal with. My therapist has me reading an interesting book Children of the Self-Absorbed A Grownup's Guide to Getting over Narcissistic Parents by Nina W. Brown. At first I thought oh please, everyone is a tiny bit self centered, this book does not apply to me or my parents, but then I started to read it and for me it was like this woman must have lived my life! It might not apply to you and your "family history" I just wanted to let you know about it. Also the author states loud and clear that no parent is perfect and that the majority do the best they can with what they know. It is in no way a parent bashing book, because sometimes I could ride that bus forever -------------------- IBS-D Print     Remind Me     Notify Moderator
