I don't know too much about this, but I've heard that adding alkaline foods to your diet promotes digestive and overall health by balancing your body's natural pH. However, I'm not familiar with any studies done on this and I'm not even sure if your body would need help to keep this balance. Maybe Kate has more info on this.
Lemon is acidic and you should probably avoid it if you have GERD or if it's one of your triggers. I don't seem to have a problem with it, but I don't eat a lot of it at one time. So, with the Lemon Sorbet, I'll just have a small scoop, probably about two tablespoons (I'm guessing), and with the lemon/lime wedge I'll just lick it or squeeze some on my food. Sometimes just the smell is satisfying.
Ooh, I haven't tried the mango sorbet yet. I love the lightness and freshness of fruit sorbets. Goodbye, ice cream!
Okay, I'm not trying to be a busy-body or anything , but are you going to start posting what you're eating/trying on the Fitness board? It's okay if you don't, but it's a nice way to get some feedback on what you're doing to help the IBS. Sometimes, it's easier for me to figure out what's wrong (even though I keep a personal food journal as well) by seeing it here on the board. I guess it makes me look at myself with a more critical eye?
Take care, Beth. Enjoy some mango sorbet tonight!
