Sounds like you really NEED to push for those tests. A colonoscopy is a must in diagnosing IBS - it can only be properly diagnosed by ruling out everything else!

But as has been said, vomiting is rarely an IBS symptom.

The skinny stools are actually quite common with IBS and constipation - it all that "gets past" the blockages!

The only time I've ever been unable to keep anything down with an IBS attack was when I was hospitalised with REALLY bad cramps (the doc called it colic as it was like trapped gas). An injection of strong anti-spasmodic sorted me out then. It sounds like this MIGHT help your son's bouts, but not sure. He could proabably do with being on preventative meds if it is IBS - a daily anti-spasmodic might help.

In the meantime, I'd order some Acacia from Heather and get him to start that. It can't hurt and if it is IBS, then it will help. Just remind him to start small and work up slowly.
