Lene, so sorry to hear about your work troubles. It is SO not fair. BTW if the company is over a certain size (25 employees, I think), they must obey the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), which says your company must allow you up to three months (I think) of unpaid leave due to illness and they are required to hold your job for you and it is against the law for them to fire you. I think you should research that right away and talk to your boss or your personnel dept.

Also, IBS is considered to be a disability under the Americans with Disablities Act (ADA), and your employer is required by law to make reasonable accommodations for your disability (again if they're over a certain size).

All of us with IBS need to stand up for our rights and be very vocal about this. The only way the world is going to start understanding what we go through is if we tell them. So, everybody, we need to stop being afraid and stop being ashamed and tell the truth! Okay??!!

Hang in there sweetie and hope you had a good cry. We all need them every now and then!!
