Hello Debbie Ray! So sorry to hear that your sons health isn't getting any better. You mentioned that his stool sometimes is very thin and mucousy...there is a few reasons for this. I'm not a Dr., but I can tell you that I sometimess get it if I am a little dehydrated along with C. It's almost as though things get a little "squeezed" from lack of hydration. There are also more severe reasons for this. This link should help with that.

The only suggestion I really have is to have him start from scratch with "what to eat when you can't eat anything", but eliminate anything that might have gluten. Then once he's feeling better, try to incorporate other food. Also, he needs to be taking an SFS. I use Benefiber, but a lot of people use Heathers Acacia and swear by it.

I'm sure there will be someone else with a lot more helpful information for you.
