A cry for help!

I am asking for help, advice, anything from any of you who may be able to identify my sons symptoms as IBS or ?. We are becoming desperate after almost 4 years of this. It began when an expoloratory surgery was done as there was an unknown obstruction in the intestines. During the surgery a congenital sac was removed which had surrounded my son's lower intestines and finally pinched off. We were told from that point on he should be fine. He is now 25 years old. He has been diagnosed off and on with IBS from a general surgeon, to an Internal Medicine physician to a gastroenterologist who said it is probably the worse case he has ever seen, if it is at all, as his symptoms are not textbook. He has gone from weeks to months between bouts. It will begin usually in early morning with a strange feeling in his stomache. He will begin retching and vomiting, unable to keep down even a drop of water. Hiccups always occur sometime during the bout and he gets very stressed and can't relax bouncing one leg or the other, and sometimes sweats and chills occur. This is sometimes after being constipated for several days, but not always. I do wonder, however, if he is not constipated as his stools are sometimes to the point of pencil thin in diameter and yes there is generally mucous. The vomiting goes on for 1-3 days. After 2 days, we must take him to an urgent care for IV fluids as he dehydrates. He has been hospitalized several times, however, they basically give him fluids and relax him, give him Phenergan, etc. etc., stabilize him and send him on his way to follow up with his doctor. They don't really want to do other tests as CAT scans, xrays, etc. etc. were all done prior to the surgery and they say this is probably a result from the surgery due to the timeframe. We feel that some of this may be due to his now not having health insurance and they don't want to bother. This has now become severe within the last 6 weeks as it is now happening weekly. When he lived close to me, I did have him on the IBS diet which seemed to work, however, out of nowhere these bouts would happen again. We have now been told to try having him stay away from any glutens even white rice, etc. which is what alot of his diet consisted of as nothing else has worked. I know I have gone into great detail, however we are desperate. I posted several years ago and had some nice supportive responses and am hoping for some additional help. Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can offer us.
