If you can't move the test (and I don't think you should if it will change the date to significantly later), you can ask the docs what you can do to help avoid the big D problem. I would also explain to your boyfriend's family ahead of time what you're doing and the concerns that you have. They will surely be more sympathetic if they understand that you're not being lazy!
