It's a totally common reaction to dairy. Don't worry about whether it's C or D or whether you're one or the other. A lot of people alternate between the two, which is also common.
My advice: avoid the ice cream altogther. The fat and the dairy make it a wicked trigger and will cause you nothing but trouble. To the rescue: soy frozen desserts (like ice cream). They're a really tasty substitute, although a bit expensive. But if it's a treat for only once in a while, I can justify it. I like Soy Delicious brand, though, that's the only brand I can get (tee hee).
