Hi SweetD, First of all, welcome to the boards! I hope you can find a lot of helpful information here that will hopefully help you feel a whole lot better. Second of all, I have to put in a big agreement with Chinagl, ice cream could be a big part of your problem! Even people without IBS often have difficulties digesting milk products, especially ones that are heavy and have as much as fat in them as ice cream does. I'd say definitely stay away from the ice cream and see what difference that makes. Second of all, pro-biotics can be useful I think but sometimes your body needs more than that. I was on pro-biotics for quite a while and didn't notice much improvement on them. As for whether you are a D or not, it sounds like you are if you get bad diarhea from stress. That being said, if you are constipated most of the time, you are IBS-A.. means you go back and forth between the two. Eating and staying stable can be more tricky for people who are IBS-A because you don't want to swing from one extreme to the other. If you aren't stressed, and not eating ice cream, do you have normal BMs? Are you taking a soluble fiber supplement? That will help, especially if you are an A, from going from D to C. There are also quite a few foods, as well as ice cream, that are 'triggers' and could be upsetting your tummy. This is all stuff on the boards though, so I won't ramble on listing everything. Good luck! And no ice cream! --Steph
