Just wanted to say hey, and thanks for all the great info here. Wish I had some good advice, but I'm just trying to figure out how to help myself as much as possible. I've learned quite a bit here just perusing over the weekend.
About me, I'm 37, I'm a sahm to 3. Have never really been "normal" that I can remember, but it was never so bad that I had to seek help from a Dr til about a year and 1/2 ago. Geez, I was so surprised to learn from them what a stressed out silly head I am! My problem was IBS-C, extreme bloating, gained 18 pounds,I would have about 2 bm's per month. That went on about 18 months.. As someone else posted about, I had a bit of "girl problems" ovarian growths, enlarged tipped uterus. I had 2 surgeries, the first one to remove a big ovarian mass pressing on my colon and the last one being a complete hysterectomy after more masses started growing on the other ovary. So I hate to write a book here, but I can't help but wonder about how hormones affect IBS. Because ever since my hysterectomy almost 4 months ago, (he removed everything, and I haven't been on HRT yet) I suddenly switched to IBS-D since I have so little estrogen. Now just as soon as I start eating something I cramp up! I've ben having 7 or 8 D-like episodes every day. I am on Protonix, Zelnorm, Benefiber (12mg) and Miralax. It's hard for me to judge sometimes, but I'd rather be like this than constipated. I'm not bloated and am back to my normal size 7 and weight (I gotta blame the excess estrogen from those dang growths!). That makes me happy! Though the D is making me start to feel nervous about leaving the house! I have a good GI dr now, I haven't told him about these changes yet, I want to see what I can do for myself diet wise for a while first because I know people go back and forth between C and D. Anyway, that's my hard luck story in a tiny nutshell. It is sure no fun to be like this, I just try to be grateful it isn't something deadly (even tho it feels that way sometimes! lol) Thanks! Missyb
