Another note on antispasmodics...

...from my experience and from reading posts by others on the board, sometimes you can seem to "get used" some. I was first on Bentyl when my doc thought I had IBS. My instructions were to take it when I hurt. or before meals. Worked for a month or two, than not at all (i took it almost all of the time).
After i was diagnosed with IBS, my GI doc said take one librax half an hour before I ate (I told him that Bentyl no longer worked). Again, worked for alittle while atleast. But, I had not changed my diet at that time.
Antispasmodics are not a cure-all for IBS, as your doctor may tell you they are.
Librax is also a tranquilizer, Heather writes in her book. I am angry that my doctor did not tell me this when he prescribed it to me!
I found if i save them for tough days they do seem to help.
Another plus- prescriptions are SOOO cheap- less than my insurance copay even!
