Yes, ladies and gentlemen, as of this coming Friday I will have been IBS stable, NO D, for SIX WHOLE MONTHS!! Now I need everyone's help to make sure I don't goof up this week and make it to this major milestone!! I've made it six months twice before but have never made it to seven, so the next week and then the next month will be the true test!!
How did I do it?? HEATHER!!! I've been following Heather's plan and it has worked like a charm!! I had been doing parts of it before, but got really serious about it after my last D attack on Jan 9 of this year. So how about if I share a few of my strategies each day this week to remind me and keep me on the straight and narrow until Friday?!
First, NO ALCOHOL!! None, nada, zip, zero, zilch!! I have found out the hard way that I just CANNOT cheat here and stay stable. I may be okay the day I have the drink, but the darn alcohol is such an irritant to the lining of my digestive system that the very first food I eat after it that is the least bit challenging triggers me. As in cramps, bloating, pain, and D. My last six months of misery before this six months stable were triggered by ONE glass of champagne (AFTER some bread for soluble fiber) at my 50th birthday dinner. I barely made it home from the restaurant before it started. How unfair is that??!!
