Sheri - my Mother-in-law is filipino. Make sure you know what meat is in the dish. They love pork. Avoid like the plague. The seafood dishes are safer - provided they're not full of oil. A couple of dishes to look for are pancit bijon (pan-sit bee jon) - I posted a recipe for this on the recipe board. It's usually pretty safe. It's a rice-noodle base with cooked veggies and chicken/shrimp. Another dish is ubi (oobi) which is something like "purple potatoes".
