Gail, I'm a little confused.

You say your major complaint is the bloat. And now you're D. I'm with you so far. I'd blame the dead animal carcass from Wendy's. Red meat is a BIG trigger! BIG. I'd be bloated too -- and more.

Your IBS acts up big time when you go to the MIL for dinner. Okay, what does she fix, and HOW does she fix it? Lots of hidden fat, I suspect. Then that would tell you that fat is your biggest enemy. If she doesn't cook with a lot of fat, then what is she doing differently? This could be very helpful for you to discover.

Too bad you don't like fish. Grilled salmon is incredible. But, okay, you don't like it. Canned tuna is great too; since you like it, why not eat more of it? Have you tried the tuna-in-a-bag? It's SOOOO good, much better than canned (although far more expensive). And you've "come to hate chicken"? Oh dear. Too bad! Chicken is so versatile, you can do anything with it! Do you also hate turkey? What about deli turkey breast from the deli department? Makes incredible sandwiches.

Dicetel? I don't know anything about that. Could that be the culprit? Have you ever tried not taking it and seeing how you do without it? Is that a prescription? I looked it up in my drug dictionary, but it wasn't there.

As for the Citrucel, if you're still having bloating and D but aren't taking the Citrucel, then you know it's not to blame. However, my D got out of control, as well as bloating and gas, when I accidentally increased my SFS to its maximum dosage, then it went away completely when I stopped taking it.

I just wonder if your body is having a hard time adjusting to change. I think our bodies are overly sensitive -- thus the IBS -- and any kind of change at all sends messages to the subconscious, "uh-oh, watch out! She's doing strange things to us again!" and since the subconscious tries to keep us safe, it goes into defense mode; perhaps in your case, that means D because your subconscious is trying to get rid of what you're feeding it.

I don't know; that's just a guess. But I'd give the diet a chance.

AND -- I'd really pursue an investigation into your MIL's cooking. I think it holds some answers for you.

Bev
