You should be ok with soysauce, there really isn't anything in there to hurt you. You could also try a non-dairy butter substitute (like Earth Balance) and put some of that on the rice (or bread, or pasta). I've got some and it's a saviour, I only use a little, because it's really high in fat, but just that little makes it so much less bland.

Your in London, ON right? I live in London too so I thought I'd just throw in a tip for how to get the non-dairy butter as it took me literally forever to find it! I've only been able to find two stores that carry it. One is Quartermasters which is a health food store in Wortley village, and the other is Lyn-Dys, another health food store on Oxford east of Adelaide. I'd say it would be well worth popping into either of them to check them out, not just for the butter, they also have a good selection of non-dairy cheeses, soy ice cream and things like that.

I also sometimes put honey on toast or english muffins, not everyone can tolerate honey but I seem to do ok with it, I just don't use too much.

I'm sure you'll get lots of other suggestions...but if any of those stores are conveinant for you to get to, I would definately go check them out!
