Frustrated and a bit confused?!

I have had IBS for many years. Over the last 6 months I have developed IBS-d, I used to be a 'c'. Anyhow, I try and follow the diet, have cut out dairy and caffeine and anything else that triggers an attack. I am taking Dicetel and Immodium as required. the problem is that I can hardly call myself under control. I get 'd' and cramping 2-3 times a week. I thought I'd get better but it's not happening.

Should I expect that this is just what it's like to have this and that I'll continue to have 'd' this often? it doesn't seem right. I also take the fibre that Heather sells and I'm not sure if it's helping.

Any suggestions? I am seeing my first gastro specialist in 2 months. I don't know if he'll be able to do anything for me. Maybe this means that the Dictel isn't working. Is it supposed to stop 'd'?
