Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards | Doctors are sooooo FRUSTRATING!

Well doctor #3 - I liked her BUT...

When I asked her what kind of pamphlet or handout does she give to someone new to IBS as far as a diet - her response was "I would stay away from things that are very creamy or spicy but other than that I would not give any diet advice."

I find this so amazing - this is the third gastroenterologist that I've seen who does not think that IBS and diet are related.

I also have a question about gallstones. I have 10 small gallstones which have developed since September. (They are pretty sure it is because of the rapid weight loss from being so sick). Anyway I need to make a decision about gallbladder removal or not. I experience some mid back discomfort after dinner sometimes but other than that I'm not experiencing any major pain in the gallbladder area. The doctor says it's up to me - that removing it could prevent future problems and may alleviate the discomfort but isn't absolutely necessary unless a stone moves into a duct. Any advice???
