I met this guy 7 years ago. We dated briefly, but I met someone else and you know how that goes. We eventually lost touch with each other. I grew up in NY; I was living in Maryland at the time. I moved to Virginia. Someone Else and I split up. I moved to NJ. I moved back to NY. Through it all, I had never really stopped thinking about the 1st guy.
Curious, I looked him up online and dropped him an ICQ to say hi. He was doing fine, living in Maine (you see where this is going, don't you?), and very happy to hear from me. I drove up to visit him a couple times, and in September, I decided to stay for good. Best decision of my life. 
Visit Maine when you can, but wait till early October - the colors are incredible, and the summer tourists are gone.  I'd love to go to the Carolinas... I've never been south of Richmond. We're totally broke and anything beyond a day trip is hard to manage these days, so I know the feeling!
