Back from trip to Vancouver as well as Alaskan cruise but trying to follow any type of a diet on a cruise ship I found nearly impossible. Of course as expected I did have some problems. I did get advice however from medical staff on ship which helped a bit. Try and avoid red meats as much as possible and for dessert try to stick to yogurt dishes which were available if one requested. Stick to the fiber as previous. One other suggestion for the tummy upset at times was to drink ordinary tea as strong as I could handle it for a bit. Like two bags per cup. He further advised that despite diverticulous my problem might just be basically IBS alone but test might verify that.

Trip in itself was generally okay but cooler than last time I tried it. That was in Sept 2001 during the Sept 2001 crisis and trip virtually came down to merely staying on ship as security was so tight and I did not have sufficient photo i.d. at time.

Now I have to look forward to a colonoscopy sometime in near future after seeing specialst in a couple of weeks. In restrospect I probably would have been better to hold off trip at least until I have a better idea what shape colon is in. But at least on a ship you have your own tiolet facilities readily available.

One surprise to me was that after seeing physicia on ship because of D there was no charge although prices were clearly quoted. I had warned travel insurance people previous to seeing him as requitred and when I advised that he did not charge they were very surprised.
