it's going to be up to you and your body to decide that.

(don't you just hate answers like that!?)

ok, here's my rule of thumb---- if it's been hours and hours since i've eaten, especially if it's my first meal of the day (therefore i have an empty stomach), i will generally try to start the meal with soluble fiber (even if it's my old standby Equalactin rather than some soluble fiber food). however, if i ate 2 hours ago like i'm supposed to and i'm feeling pretty good and stable, i just eat those sweet potatoes and the rice with the chicken.

now that's just how my body works, and i do fine this way. i don't know if that will, for sure, work for you. but try it and see! the key is: how much soluble fiber do you have in your system that day and how do you feel? try the best you can to listen to your body- it actually will tell you what to do, ya just have to learn the language.

ps: i'm also GF, so it's hard to find easy stuff to eat at the beginning of a meal (can't depend on your breadbasket, can ya, now?). that's why i think the Equalactin is quite lovely. my friends even remind me, now, to take some before we eat! we'll be in the car and i'll get the "take your chewie fiber things." luckily, i'm always toting around some Equalactin and a bottle of water (never leaves my hands!).

oh, and another ps: if you're not a big eater first thing in the morning, grab a banana to get your start. then take your soluble fiber supplement. do your AM ritual and work your breakfast in later, when you're awake!
