The diet does seem to help. I am now up to taking Citrucel 4 times a day (the powder kind) and trying to drink lots of water; some days it is harder than others to drink it. Also since I started the diet I have lost weight which the dr. says is not normal with IBS but I feel that cutting out all the extra's that I use to eat has to contribute to weight loss.
I tried to get the dates moved up but the dr. left today for a weeks conference and there was no other openings long enough to do the endoscope and the colonoscopy; the nurse did say that they have me down to be moved up if there is any cancellations because they don't like to move anyone and I was the only one moved...go figure
For sleep I have been taking Melatonin which helps to get me to sleep but then I wake in the middle of the night and the anxiety starts.

Muffit, you came to the right place. I'd say everyone here knows how you feel. It is scary not knowing what's wrong with you!

I think your doc's crazy to say it's not normal to lose weight with IBS. How can you not lose weight when you're sick and having trouble eating? I lost a bunch when I first started having problems but since starting Heather's diet haven't had any more problems with weight loss.

If the doc says there's a possibility you have Celiac have you thought about cutting out wheat and gluten and seeing if that helps you even more? It couldn't hurt to see how that affects your body. Good luck and let us know how things turn out!
