I'm on both, just coincidently. I've been on a maintenance dose of Effexor for a while to keep me depression-free. It helped my tummy a little at first, but was still having lots of D. My internist diagnosed the IBS, started me with just a fiber supplement, and when that wasn't enough to control it, prescribed an antispasmodic called Bentyl (generic name dicyclomine) to use as needed, then when that wasn't enough, had me start taking the Bentyl everyday as a preventive. That worked and I'm now D-free for FOUR MONTHS!! Thanks to Heather's diet too of course.
