Irritable Bowel Syndrome Message Boards

I have been trying so hard to get stable. I was having diarrhea everyday about 2 months ago then went on Heather's diet. I guess it worked too good because now, I get constipated. For the past month I will have 4 days of constipation then explosive diarrhea attacks that leave me completely weak and unable to function. I have been taking citracel religiously everyday and eating all of the right foods and drinking lots of water but I still get these attacks. I feel like I can't really take any medication because the medication for D makes me C and when I get C I get the explosive D a few days later. I am just not sure what I am doing wrong, or if I should be doing more, or if it will just get better with time, or if this is the way it is going to be forever.

I know this is a tricky puzzle to solve but ANY advice would be so so so greatly appreciated. BTW, do any of you still suffer from attacks now and then or are you pretty stable?

Oh I should also mention (as embarrasing as it is) that I have terrible terrible external and internal hemorrhoids. The constipation and diarrhea is just reaking so much havoc on them and as a result I am in terrible pain most of the time. In order to get those under control, I have to get my gut under control.
