Well I thought I would share this with the board today as it is a huge milestone for me and I thought it might be encouraging to others.

I just got back from a 1 1/2 hour trip (each way!) in a car with me driving my two kids to SealCove Crescent Beach in Cape Elizabeth,ME. We went to see them release 9 seals that had become stranded but were now well enough to be set free. Really cool. If anyone else is an animal enthusiast you can track the seals at www.stranding.org.

Anyway,my points are that I actually felt I could pull the trip off and that I did! I brought my safe foods to snack on and then ate for real when I got home.

I have been on Heathers eating plan for about 5 weeks now. The first 5 days on the "what to Eat whenyou can't eat anything" plan and then branching out. When I first staring adding more to my diet I was a little over eager to add in the veggies and stuff and that caused trouble but then I backed up and started slower, literally adding just a 2 or 3 pieces of carrot or potatoe at a time. I have slowly increased that on a base of noodles or rice in combination with organic chicken or fish and am feeling so much stronger. Samething with the fruit. I have that in a rice milk smoothie and have beenslowly able to increase my fruit intake too. My bodynow feels strong enough to do yoga and exercise more often too.

Before I found Heathers book I had always been able to stabilize the D by just eating toast for a few days but then I would feel better and say great I am healed now and I can eat whatever I want which always led me right back to the D and then the toast. Now I get that I have to build on that soluble fiber base veeerrry slowly.

Also now that I got my oversensitive tummy calmed down I feel like I can start to see how my emotions are affecting my stomach more and can start to work on that now too. In other words, I can see how to distill down the factors that affect IBS and am gaining ground on them one at a time.

So I am encouraged and wanted to maybe encourage others so that is my story and I am sticking to it!!!!!

Reading over and over again the stories of the people on these boards has really helped me to get the jist of IBS and how to outsmart it! Thanks to all.

Cindy
