I find it easier to figure out how many calories I should take in during the day multiply that by .25 (the max % of fat you should consume) and divide that by 9 (the number of calories in a gram of fat). The final number is the max # grams of fat I should have in any day.
Example:
1200 calories per day
times .25 = 300 calories per day from fat
divided by 9 = 33 grams of fat per day
The best thing is obviously to spread those 33 grams throughout the day and NOT "save them up" for some big meal - because this will be too much at once and you'll get sick.
I usually keep my fat grams below 20 which is actually a bit too low - I am trying to get up to 25 per day but slowly.
With the labeling in the U.S. showing fat grams I find this easier to track.
