Colonsoscopy or Barium Enema

Because of frequent of attacks of minor constipation relating to diverticulosis doctor has recommended a further test. I have choice as mentioned above.
I know that I do have diverticulosis as that was discovered in 1998. My feeling is that since I know the emena procedure that to go with it. Granted it is uncomfortable but with a coloscopy the idea that putting a scope in an area where there there is the diverticulosis might just hit one of these and cause problems. Also if a general anesthetic is used I had a problem of it shutting down my bladder. This happened after gall bladder surgery and I had to wear bags for a couple of weeks and use catheter for a another few weeks. For a male this is also very uncomfortable.

Is it risky having a colonoscopy without knocking you out?

Would like opinions please
