I'm IBS-A, and stuck in the C mode for now. I also only go in the AM. A few of the tips I learned on this site and that have helped me are:
1. The Fiber supplements (I use benefiber)
2. Drink a warm glass of water as soon as you get up in the morning. (If plain water doesn't work, try some lemon juice in it.)
3. Be sure you're getting plenty of insoluble fiber in your diet. I have fruits or vegetables with every meal (following my soluble fiber, of course). At first I was afraid of the insoluble because I used to be IBS-D, but I've found that as long as I have plenty of soluble first; I don't have trouble with the insoluble.
4. Drink lots and lots of water everyday.
5. I haven't really been able to do the several small meals during the day thing. I'm stuck in the 3 meals a day mode. But, to compensate, I eat less than I used to at my meals, and be sure to have soluble snacks in between. I don't let myself get hungry, like I used to.
These tips have really helped me a lot and made a big difference in my life! Also, I carry snacks in my purse; for those just in case times. (for me it's honeycomb cereal and fat-free crackers).
Hope this helps. Don't be afraid to experiment until you find what works best for you.
