Hello, I actually get this type of pain quite often as well. I too don't think it's gerd or heartburn...it just somehow feels different. I tend to get cramping in my lower abdomen and then maybe an hour or so later it starts up high...and the upper pain is just awful...I find it makes it hard to breathe and everything. I can't remember for sure but I thought that I read somewhere that part of the colon extends to just under the ribcage on the left side and this can cause that type of pain...but I'm not positive. I've found that heating pads or something similar really help, as well as some fennel tea to reduce the gas. Hope you feel better soon! Kelly
