I have only posted here once before, but I have spent many hours reading posts and using the search option. I was diagnosed with IBS-d in July of 2003, shortly after I bought heathers books and spent countless hours on the internet trying to find answers to my questions. My problem, although I sure not unique has eluded resolution thus far. In July after blood tests, stool tests, and a CT Scan with Contrast, my doctor diagnosed me with IBS along with having a fatty liver. At the time I weighed 345, well I began fiber therapy (citrucel) along with acidophilus, I followed the IBS diet. However no matter what I tried I still had problems with diarrhea. I have also tried the normal anti-d's and anit-spasmodics including (pepto, immodium, keopectate, hyocosamine, lomotil) All of which caused more painful diarrhea. By November my weight had plummeted to 270 and now I am currently at 245. I am 5'8'' with broad shoulders and a linesman build, even at my most fit I have never been below 230, which is quickly approaching. In November I stopped taking fiber as it wasn't helping. I then tried cutting out wheat and I noticed a little less diarrhea. I tend to have flatulence quite often, I have tried peppermint, chamomile, and fennel to no avail. My flatulence tends to be very painful, with a burning sensation similar to what I feel with my movements. I occasionally have good days but it is very rare. I haven't worked since July of 2003, I stay mostly home although some days I venture out but rarley do I go far. I am only 24 years old, my wife and I used to love going for long drives, I miss those days. I am at my wits end in the fight, any help would be welcome.
Thanks in advance, Lonewolf (24/m)
