To everyone who has asked about this, my doctor had me do a gastric emptying test (yes, ChinaGirl, I survived the eggs, but barely; you were right!). They discovered that my stomach empties up to 3x slower than it's supposed to, which explains why I bloat up, why I feel very full after only eating a tiny bit, and why I'm in pain 24-7. Gastroperisis is usually found in older people with Type I or Type II diabetes, and I have neither. I'm also only 26, so it's rare in my age group as well. Because it hit me at the age that it did, I'm going to be on medication for the rest of my life. There's two different medications for it, but one is only available in Canada. The drug here in the States has the unfortunate side effect of depression. Soooo...if you're not depressed before you get on it, you may be once you're on it a while. If you ARE clinically depressed (as I am) before you start taking it, it can make you darn near suicidal. Needless to say we're going to skip that bad boy The one from Canada is called Domperidone (my hubby is already teasing me and calling it "Dom Perignon") It's supposed to make my stomach just empty faster basically. The downside is that I can't eat ANY raw vegetables or fruits, not even salads, and I got the impression that chicken was out as well. I hope not!
Hope this helps...I'm still learning about it myself!
