I hope it's ok to post this in this section, wasn't sure what was appropriate. I have followed the IBS diet for years and it has been a true life-saver. I don't know how I would have lived a normal life without it (thank you Heather!). But now I'm taking Questran because I had serious diarrhea after my gall bladder was removed (confirmed gallstones and a series of attacks before removal). I have been on Questran for nine weeks and it has been life-altering. I'm now able to eat a much, much wider array of foods, my stomach is calm, and I have had virtually no diarrhea whatsoever. In the beginning it caused constipation (welcome in and of itself when you have IBS-D!) but that subsided after about a week. Now I just seem to have a relatively normal system, whereas for about 7 years I didn't. So my question is -- could Questran help others with IBS, or is this just some kind of fluke (and possibly a short-term fluke, who knows)? I am eating lots of soy yogurt now, something I sadly couldn't tolerate before, so maybe that is contributing. But I do see that Questran is prescribed for Crohn's -- a disease I have been tested for extensively, and which I do not have. So why isn't it prescribed more widely for those who suffer from diarrhea? I have been puzzling over this and thought this might be the best place to look for answers. -- Kitty
