Too bad there's no responses. I'm new here and just learning about how to treat my IBS with diet. I have some friends and family members who also have diet issues. Usually it works best if they just say something basic and high level, like "I have to avoid gluten" or "I can't eat dairy". Then if someone asks they'll answer questions.

I just had to try and explain my new diet to my brother tonight when he invited my family for breakfast this Sat. I know what his breakfasts are like. Sausage and/or bacon and eggs and potatoes cooked in the fat. Very greasy. HE offered to make pancakes with non-dairy creamer to avoid milk, but I said I'm afraid there's probably stuff in that I can't eat. I told him I can just have toast and oatmeal, but I know it's going to bother him.
The thing is, I don't want to suffer abdominal pain to avoid making other people feel "bad" about my not eating what they can handle.
