Hello! I am new to this site and I thought I would post a quick intro. I am Robin, a 32 year old mom to 4 boys.

Three years ago, when my 3rd son was a baby, I was hit with what I thought was food poisoning. The symptoms (nausea, D, belly cramping, loss of appetite) didn't go away! I lost 70lbs in just a few months and became very very sick. My response to the symptoms was to just not eat much of anything. I had every test under the sun and even had my gallbladder taken out and nothing helped. Miraculously, I slowly got better, eating nothing but rice krispies, bagels, yogurt, and fruit. I gained 20lbs, got healthy, took yoga, was able to eat within reason (fat and heavy foods were triggers). Then I got pregnant again with son #4. I had a healthy pregnancy, gained 25lbs, even was able to indulge in cravings for Indian food! But after he was born, all of my original symptoms returned with a vengeance. Again, I lost weight extremely quickly and am back to being sickly and eating rice krispies.

I am visiting tons of Drs and going through many tests. So far they found strange thryoid hormones (low tsh but the rest are normal), a bunch of benign thyroid nodules, an extremely high prolactin level (going for a MRI of my brain next week), but nothing to explain my horrible bowel symptoms. I figure I need to manage my symptoms as my Drs try to look for a diagnosis.

A few months ago, I was IBS alternating but I have seemingly fallen into a period of just IBS C. The nausea and cramping are horrific. It feels just as bad as pain from kidney stones when I have an IBS attack. I thought I was managing eating cereal, fruit, and yogurt, but I am still having so many attacks I figured I needed to try something new. I ordered the "First Year" IBS diet book, fennel tea, the tummy fiber, and the peppermint capsules. I am encouraged by all of the positive reviews, I hope I can help reverse my symptoms as well!

I am super nervous giving up dairy since that is such a huge bulk of my diet and I am very thin and malnourished as it is, but it is worth a shot! I started trying the diet since yesterday (from what I could gather on the website) and I have been eating rice, crackers, applesauce, chicken soup, and bread.

I look forward to learning more, trying the products and recipes!
