Hello
I have been eating the restricted, soluble fibre only diet for the past 3 days, and taking a soluble fibre supplement for the last 5 days (started with 1 30mg sachet split into 3 doses a day, now on 2 sachets split into 3 doses). I also take Trimebutine 3x daily, drink 3-4 cups of peppermint tea and 2-2.5 litres of water every day. For the past months, my IBS symptoms have been mostly constipation, either unable to go to the loo for few days, or needing to go several times in one day (often several times within one afternoon) but each time only really small/'bitty', painful, foreced, hard bowel movements, and the embarrassment of sudden + really loud noises every single day- again, mostly in the afternoon. The last 2 weeks were particularly bad- hence me starting the "breaking the cycle" diet.
Now the good (?) news: For the past 3 days: practically no noises at all (massive improvement, HUGE relief!) + easier (but still feel a bit constipated) bowel movements - still several times a day, but more regular + more "complete".
-- is this the "best" I should expect symptoms to be, or should I see more improvement in constipation/frequency of bowel movements in next few days (t says that breaking for cycle for constipation can take longer...???) - I know I have to add things and not just keep eating soluble fibre. What are the safest things to add first? How gradually/quickly should I add things- i.e. should I still have some meals per day or week that are just soluble fibre?
Sorry for the long post... it's a novelty having found "someone" to talk to about all this after so long..
