When IBS was a problem for me, I was exactly like you. I never had cramps, but I had extreme bloating, gas, and nausea. The gas seemed to intensify in anxiety-provoking situations.
It was very rare for me to have pain, except maybe when in a cycle of C, and my belly would feel like a block of cement. That is about it for the pain for me. When I was in a cycle of D, I had no pain/cramps, just D, where I would need the bathroom pronto.
I think my bloating was worse than the gas. Sometimes I felt like I needed to go up a pant size. And I did have extreme nausea, in which I surely thought I was going to vomit.
So, you are not alone in your symptoms. What I have come to understand about IBS is that they may have their accepted hallmark symptoms, but there are many, many more. It has affected every inch of my body, not just my belly.
I am well now, so I hope you find your way also, and know you are not alone.
