Thanks for the link and the info! It sounds like not having cramps or pain doesn't rule IBS out. My main symptom is definitely the nausea. I am trying to follow Heather's diet but then started reading about FODMAPS and am overwhelmed at all the things I should not be eating. The fruits and veggies are especially difficult for me to eliminate since that is a huge part of what I eat.
The doctor who diagnosed me with IBS prescribed a low-dose anti-depressant for the symptoms. I am hesitant about going on medication long-term and want to try the diet approach first (she is of the opinion that diet doesn't matter!), which is what led me to this website. Has anyone had experience with anti-depressants for IBS (either good or bad)? What about anti-inflammatory meds? She was going to prescribe those too but wanted me to try the anti-depressants first.
